OneTen is Now SkillsRight
A new chapter in helping companies get skills-first right.
After five years of working with some of the nation’s largest employers to advance skills-first hiring, we are excited to share our new name and identity: SkillsRight.
Our new name reflects what we deliver today: a sharpened focus on identifying the right skills for the right roles, as well as a more precise and integrated approach to skills-based workforce transformation.
Companies today are being asked to move faster, adapt more quickly, and make better decisions about how work gets done. Many have recognized that a skills-first approach offers a more effective way forward—focusing on what people can do, not just the credentials they hold.
As OneTen, we helped catalyze that shift. With the collective ecosystem of employers, talent developers and partners, we demonstrated that hiring for skills, not degrees, opens the door to a broader, more capable workforce.
But as skills-first has gained traction, a more practical challenge has come into focus: how to make it work consistently, efficiently, and at scale.
The Opportunity
Inside many organizations, translating skills-first intent into execution remains a challenge—as well as an opportunity.
Roles may be updated, but hiring practices continue to default to traditional credentials. Leaders align on direction, but those practices are applied unevenly across teams. Data exists, but organizations are challenged when it comes to turning those insights into consistent, informed decisions.
At the same time, work itself is changing. AI and automation are reshaping jobs, and skill requirements are evolving in real time. The workforce companies need already exists but, too often, hiring approaches aren’t built to recognize it.
This is not a talent shortage. It’s a challenge of alignment—between talent, demand, and the ways organizations make decisions. That’s why we’ve changed our name. Because this moment demands more than a mindset shift. It demands results.
To deliver real impact, employers must rethink how work is defined, how talent is evaluated, and how opportunity flows within their organizations.
Our New Chapter
SkillsRight helps companies get skills-first hiring right, efficiently and at scale.
At its core is a simple idea: better decisions require better insight. A skills-first approach requires more than removing degree requirements. It requires understanding the skills a role actually demands, knowing where those skills exist, and consistently applying that understanding to how talent is recognized, matched, and advanced.
For decades, employers have relied on credentials as a proxy for capability. But in today’s economy, that proxy no longer reliably reflects what people can actually do.
SkillsRight reflects a more precise, integrated approach to workforce transformation—grounded in insights and built for execution. We help companies operationalize skills-first strategies by translating insights into practices, workflows, and talent pipelines that deliver measurable results.
What This Means for Employers
For organizations, this shift is both practical and increasingly urgent. Operationalizing skills-first means moving beyond removing degree requirements from job postings. It means enabling consistent application across the organization—shaping how:
- Roles are defined
- Job descriptions are written
- Candidates are screened
- Skills are assessed
- People are considered for advancement
- Workforce decisions are made over time
This is the shift from belief to systems that work.
“The name is very intentional in reflecting what we deliver today. This isn’t about believing in skills-first or mobilizing a movement. It’s about operationalizing it. Skills-first isn’t just a hiring change—it’s a business transformation,” said Debbie Dyson.
Looking Ahead
OneTen helped catalyze a movement. SkillsRight is focused on turning that momentum into consistent, scalable practice.
The workforce companies need already exists. The opportunity now is to better recognize that talent—and for SkillsRight to help companies connect it to real jobs and opportunities with greater precision, consistency, and scale.
